In Bangladesh’s rural development, a new model is emerging that integrates sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, and community participation. With support from BARCIK, farmers in Manikganj have developed an effective example of environment friendly agroecogicla practices.

A delegation from the Swedish development agency Sida visited BARCIK’s Singair working area recently. Representatives from partner organizations, BARCIK leadership, local committees, and farmer leaders were present.

BARCIK’s Executive Director Sukanta Sen presented the organization’s vision, strategies, and activities, highlighting community-driven sustainable development.

The delegation visited a farmer-led agroecology learning center (ALCs) in Atkuriya village, where they observed participatory learning and eco-friendly farming practices. Farmers shared how they are producing safe, chemical-free food using local knowledge.

The visitors also learned about the Green Coalition Committee’s role in environmental protection and food safety awareness. The Sida representatives expressed satisfaction saying that the initiative is a strong model for sustainable development based on local participation.
